I use film photography above all as a way into the field. Having few exposures and waiting for the film to be developed forces me to slow down, to explain what I am doing and to talk with the people I photograph. The camera then becomes a pretext for exchange, not just for “taking” a picture. Finally, the grain, the misfires and the blur give the photographs the quality of traces / testimonies, keeping the memory of the place as much as that of the encounter.
